FIT decision update

Last Friday (20th Jan) DECC attempted to clarify part of the current confusion surrounding FITs.

To cut a long story short, if the outcome of the current legal tussle goes in DECC’s favour, then they’ve guaranteed that those who installed since Dec 12th up until midnight on Mar 2nd will receive the 21p/kWh tariff  (based on systems fitted to existing properties <4kWp). They will also receive a ‘temporary’ 43.3p/kWh for the period from their date install until 31st March 2012. Thereafter it will return to 21p/kWp + the extra supplement reflecting the prevailing rate of RPI at that point.

Still with me?

If DECC lose (and there are in effect 3 ‘losing scenarios’ but let’s not get bogged down in that), then all installations since Dec 12th and until Mar 2nd will receive the 43.3p tariff. Installations carried-out on or after Mar 3rd will be on the 21p FIT tariff.

When will we know for sure?

Well, in order for all this to be legally applicable from 1st April 2012 (i.e. to give DECC time to put their proposals / revisions before parliament), a decision needs to be made by 9th Feb.

So, we could be in for another rush from the decision date until March 3rd. If you missed the boat last time, we strongly suggest you carry out our online survey now!
